We’re Experienced in Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury
Many injuries that happen at work also involve someone other than your employer. Workers’ comp may pay medical bills and part of your lost wages, but it doesn’t pay for pain and suffering. A separate personal injury claim against a negligent driver, property owner, or contractor could cover those losses.
These are a few of the situations where both kinds of claims can come up:
- A bus or delivery driver hit by another vehicle while on the job
- A construction worker hurt in a fall caused by a contractor’s safety failure
- A home health aide injured on unsafe stairs at a client’s home
- A city worker struck by a car while working near traffic
Some firms send the workers’ comp side of a case to another office. At Shulman & Hill, the same team handles both claims, so evidence, medical records, and deadlines stay coordinated. That setup is a big part of what makes Shulman & Hill different from other injury firms in NY.
Construction Injury and Labor Law Experience
Construction cases are a core part of Shulman & Hill’s work. Labor Law Section 240, often called the Scaffold Law, can make owners and general contractors pay when missing or failed safety gear leads to a fall. In many of these cases, the worker’s own mistake is not a defense.
These claims often involve large insurance policies and serious injuries, so insurers tend to fight them hard. Our team has recovered $6.5 million in a single Labor Law case. Every case is different, and past results do not predict future outcomes.
We investigate construction accidents in-house, collecting safety records, witness statements, and photos before they disappear. When a Labor Law case goes to appeal, our own appellate counsel takes it from there.
Coverage From the Five Boroughs to the Hudson Valley
Shulman & Hill is headquartered in Manhattan, with offices in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Rockville Centre on Long Island. That local presence means you can meet with us close to home. We can also travel to you for a consultation.
Beyond the city, we serve injured people in communities such as:
- Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Huntington, Islip, Babylon, and Brookhaven on Long Island
- Yonkers, White Plains, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, and Peekskill in Westchester County
- Orangetown, Ramapo, and Clarkstown in Rockland County
That reach matters for people who live in one county and work in another, such as a Rockland resident hurt on a Manhattan job site. One firm can handle the case wherever in our service area the injury happened.

A Firm Built Around Working People
Since 2013, Shulman & Hill has recovered more than $1 billion for over 26,000 clients. Our clients include construction workers, transit workers, corrections officers, home health aides, nurses, and school staff. We don’t represent federal workers, including postal workers, because their injury claims fall under a separate federal system.
Our staff reflects the communities we serve, and we work with clients in English and Spanish. Outside the office, Shulman & Hill hosts school supply giveaways and supports the Boys and Girls Club of Mount Vernon. Our Martin Luther King Jr. Day food drive in Harlem served more than 450 meals.
